The Greek tennis player talked about the upcoming quarterfinal of the Roland Garros against the Spaniard
“In the past Alcaraz said he likes playing against me. I hope he likes it a little less this time. I hope I can make him feel that it’s not so comfortable playing against me. That’s my goal for the match. I hope I can take advantage of the opportunities on my side. And I can create a fantastic atmosphere like today. These are the moments I look forward to as a tennis player.”
At the end of the match that allowed Stefanos Tsitsipas to qualify for the Roland Garros quarterfinal, the Greek spoke about the upocming match against Carlos Alcaraz, answering a question from Fabrice Santoro in the post-match interview with So, breaking the curse: this will be Tsitsipas’ mission in the quarter-finals of the Parisian Slam, ready for the 6th head-to-head against the Spaniard, who has always won the matches against the Greek. And perhaps Carlitos is at the biggest curse of Tsitsipas’ career so far! Five victories in as many matches in favor of the Spaniard, who from the first clash against Tsitsipas at the 2021 US Open won in the 5th set tie-break has lost only one set in the subsequent matches, including the final of the ATP 500 in Barcelona in 2023.

Alcaraz, after getting the quarterfinals qualification, talked about teh upcoming match against Tsitsipas, explaining: “The previous matches went very well. He hasn’t won against me yet, this means that my game is effective. But it’s been a while since the last match. Having head-to-head matches in your favor doesn’t mean you’ll beat a player. I always say that you learn many more things from defeats than from victories. I’m sure he will try to do something different. It will be a tough match both physically and mentally.”

The 25-year-old from Athens had to work hard to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Parisian Slam, risking having to recover from a 2-set deficit to Matteo Arnaldi. After the second set tie-break, however, the match changed, with Stefanos finding the courage and strength to quell the Italian tennis player’s fury, prevailing in 4 sets.
