The Russian tennis player spoke about his three rivals in a recent interview
“I honestly feel that Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic are better than me and therefore for me it is a great challenge to try to beat them. When I manage to win against them I feel that I have made improvements. I feel that they play very well and are constantly growing, and I know that if I win they will invent something new. It’s difficult but it’s nice to play these challenges.”
Daniil Medvedev is one of the favorites among the tennis players still in the running to win the Internazionali BNL d’Italia. The Russian is the highest seed and has the aim of defending the title he won last year. Medvedev has never managed to defend the title and this is also why he has greater incentive to succeed in this opportunity, the many retirements and unexpected defeats are slowly making things easier.
Daniil faced and defeated Serbian tennis player Hamad Medjedovic in the third round and will now face Tommy Pual in the 4th round of the Italian Open. During a recent interview Daniil explained: “Maybe this year in case of victory in Rome I would do things differently in terms of preparation. Last year I lost straight away at the Roland Garros but I played a good match, he was incredible.”
Medvedev then talked about the growth of these years: “With the experience accumulated in recent years I believe that I have managed to improve myself and I have managed to adapt to this surface. Every year I feel like I’m a better player here, I’m getting closer to the performance I have on hard courts and this year I want to have a good Roland Garros.”
We recall in case of victory in Rome and Paris Medvedev would become the new ATP No.1. And speaking about the rivalries with current tennis players, the athlete explained: “It’s not an easy feeling to be here, you find yourself against several strong athletes and young people always pop up who want to beat you. For me it’s a great challenge to be here, I would just like to mention Novak Djokovic but that’s not the case, Rafael Nadal is back and there are Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner. For Nadal, let’s see how far he goes.”
