The Italian will remain leader of the ATP ranking at least until Wimbledon but from the Paris Olympics something can already change.
Jannik Sinner will remain ATP No.1 at the end of Wimbledon and at least until the Olympics. The semi-final won at Roland Garros allowed the Italian to distance himself by 900 points from Carlos Alcaraz, his main rival for the top of the ATP ranking. However, from Paris Olimpics onwards, the Italian’s ATP No.1 throne will be under attack.
Perhaps the most unpredictable and in a certain sense fascinating phase of the season began after the conclusion of Roland Garros, immediately on Monday, with the first tournaments on grass. Some tennis players have decided to take to the court immediately, while many others will fully recharge their energies this week, before returning to play official competitions on the Tour.
Below the total points that the top 10 in the world rankings will have to defend until mid-July.
Jannik Sinner: 855 points
Carlos Alcaraz: 2500 points
Novak Djokovic: 1200 points
Alexander Zverev: 270 points
Daniil Medvedev: 810 points
Andrey Rublev: 660 points
Casper Ruud: 45 points
Hubert Hurkacz: 315 points
Alex De Minaur: 390 points
Grigor Dimitrov: 290 points
Carlitos will practically not be able to earn points from his current 8580. The young Spaniard will be called upon to defend the titles obtained at Queen’s and Wimbledon last year. If Nole were to confirm to skip the London event, he would certainly lose the 1200 points and perhaps even the top 5 in the ranking. Sinner will have the chance to increase his lead until the Championships. The Italian has certainly set his sights on Wimbledon, which will be the first Major tournament in which he will lead the draw as first seed. In 2023, unconvincing results for Alexander Zverev, who could make a breakthrough and get closer to the best in the ranking, considering that his direct opponent – Daniil Medvedev – will have to reconfirm himself and try not to lose too much ground.
