The Spaniard qualified for the 4th round of the Roland Garros
Carlos Alcaraz showed excellent physical progress in the match he won against Sebastian Korda which allowed the young Spaniard to qualify for the 4th round of Roland Garros. arlitos beat the American 6-4 7-6 6-3. In the on-court interview, Alcaraz was asked if he was worried before the match against Korda. The young Spaniard underlined how he believed in his abilities despite his opponent being a great player.
“For me it was like a marathon. I had to run a lot side by side. I wasn’t worried at all. I know what I’m capable of, my abilities. I know it’s really difficult for him too. I know my abilities. Obviously Sebastian is a great player. A really good striker. He hits the ball really cleanly,” said Alcaraz.
Carlitos then talked about his physical condition and memories related to the court on which he played against Korda.
“I feel great. I feel great playing on this court. Obviously I have great memories when I played here. Great matches I’ve played before. I feel better and better every match I play. The crowd was incredible. Every day is even better It’s great to play in front of you all. I’m excited to play again in the second week in Paris,” he explained.
Returning to the match, the first set started immediately with a break in favor of the Spaniard who, however, later opened another. The score followed serves until 4-4; here Alcaraz broke Korda’s serve and closed the set 6-4. In the second set, the Spaniard immediately went ahead by a break (3-1) but was caught again at 3-3. Epilogue of the set at the tie break, decided by a minibreak at 6-5 for Alcaraz, when the Spaniard took control of the game and concluded with a devastating forehand.
The third set saw the number 3 seed go on the run at 3-1 and was never caught again.
